We would like to extend a huge thank you to The Sigma Tau Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at the University of Washington, for successfully completing the Peak to Peak triathlon on June 9th and 10th! They averaged over 14 miles per day on their quest to go from Mt. Spokane to Mt. Rainier! The Fiji’s efforts helped raise $20,000 for Usher syndrome research! Thank you to everyone who donated in support of this event, with help like yours a cure will be found!
A 12 member group of the Sigma Tau Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at the University of Washington successfully completed the Triathlon. They bicycled 400+ miles in three days, swam the mile across Lake Washington in roughly and hour, and ended the third day with a hike. All of that with no serious mishaps other than a few flat tires and one good fall. They biked from Mt. Spokane to Wenatchee with time to spare on the first day, and woke up early to get to Lake Washington on the second day, late afternoon. On the third and final day, they swam across the lake bright and early and got back on their bikes to climb Rainier; they made it to the top in the evening, despite the fog. Mt. Rainier included, they climbed three passes. All reportedly had a fantastic time! Before the event, they never thought bicycling that far could be so fun. They have a different respect for cyclists and now will leave more room for them when they pass! |
